Welcome To YOUR Community of Like-Minded Writers
Congratulations on taking the first step toward freedom-filled living through well-paid writing!
The Barefoot Writer Club is a community of people who enjoy writing and know there are ways to get paid well for their craft.
It’s also a community of people unwilling to settle for a lifestyle where someone else calls the shots. We’re a group of folks who want to decide when and where we work and how much we earn. In short, our goal is to take positive control of our lives.
That being said, taking control of your life and launching a paid writing career is a tall order. There’s plenty to learn, plus there are countless ways earn a living as a writer.
That’s where The Barefoot Writer Club comes in.
Our goal is to help you understand all the possible paths to paid writing, along with how to strike out in the best direction for your needs and desires. We walk you through everything, from getting familiar with industry lingo to learning how to connect with clients or even launch your own profitable writing projects.
Our members come from a variety of backgrounds. We have retirees, new parents, folks fresh out of school, as well as those just looking for a change. We have members in their early twenties all the way up to octogenarians. We have people with degrees and without, some with extensive job experience and some with no job experience at all.
Whatever your story, whatever your background … there’s a place for you here as long as you enjoy writing and want to use those skills to change your life in a positive way.
So whether you’re brand-new to the field (welcome — you’re not alone!) or you’re already raking in six-figures as a writer (we’ve got a lot of those, too!), you’ll play an integral role in making this community rewarding.
How to Make the Most of This Website
Our number one goal is to make sure you get the most value out of your membership. So, let’s start by going over some of the most important elements of this site.
Be a Voice in Our Community
One of the greatest strengths of The Barefoot Writer Club is the sense of community. We’re here to help you celebrate your successes and to pull you through any challenges you encounter.
And, importantly, we’ve noticed over the years that the most successful writers from our club are the ones who forge connections with others in this community. That’s the best way to find actionable advice and support from the only other people who know exactly what you’re going through (plus, they share your zeal for writing and for wanting to harness your destiny!).
Because of that, it’s important for us to get to know you. We want you to share your thoughts, questions, and reactions, pretty much whenever the mood strikes you! You can do that through:
- Our Private Barefoot Writer Facebook Group: Our interactive Facebook groups, exclusively for Barefoot Writer Club members, is a place for you to get advice, ask questions, tap information, and find a wealth of writing tips and business-building knowledge. Here’s the direct link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/BarefootWriter/. If you’ve never visited, you’ll have to request access. We’ll grant you access as soon as we confirm your membership.
- Comments: At the bottom of every article and webinar is a place for you to comment. Let us know your thoughts. Share any questions or similar experiences you’ve had. We’ll be sure to respond!
- Email: If you have a question or comment you’d rather send via email, you can contact us at info@thebarefootwriter.com. We’ll get your email to the right person from there and will respond within 48 hours.
And, we want you to set up your Gravatar! Short for “Globally Recognized Avatar,” a Gravatar is an image that appears beside your name when you write a comment or post something in the forum. It’s a way for us to put a face to a name and it helps “humanize” you, which is important when your work-community is based online.
To set up your Gravatar, simply go to this site, upload a photo of yourself along with the email address linked to your Barefoot Writer Club membership, and you’re all set! The next time you write something here on the site, your Gravatar will appear.
Time To Set Your First Goal …
Alright, so now that you’re familiar with some of the basic elements of the site, why are you here? In other words, what is your goal as a new writer? (Please share in the comments section at the bottom of this page!)
If you’re still forming your goals, that’s okay, too. When we first start out, a lot of us simply say, “I want to make money as a writer.” Well, that’s great! And, you certainly can. But, you’ll get there faster if you break your goal down into actionable chunks.
Below are links to some of our most targeted articles and webinars on goal-setting. Read through them and decide what the right goal is for you. You’ll especially benefit by getting a feel for what’s realistic as a goal in your first year of writing.
And remember, there are a lot of ways to achieve the goal of becoming a highly-paid writer. In fact, as you get to know members on this site, you’ll discover everybody takes a somewhat different approach. Choose what’s right (and comfortable) for you.
